Find equipment details with the source manual passage attached.

A technician needs one detail to finish an asset record. A short answer points to the exact passage in the approved manual so they can check it on the spot.

Inside the workflow

Illustrative example · fictional equipment
Field question

“Where is the serial number on an Alder 40 display?”

Task · Add the display to the equipment register

Draft answer

Look on the lower-right edge of the display’s exterior frame. Record the value printed beside S/N.

Read manual §2.1
If the label is unreadable, flag the record for your asset lead. The guide has no basis for supplying the missing serial number.

The first build

What we’d build
A searchable guide for one equipment family using one client-approved manual revision. Each supported answer cites its section and opens the original passage. A named document owner approves manual updates.
Where a person steps in
The technician checks the equipment model and source before using an answer. Missing sections, conflicting revisions, illegible labels, and repair or safety questions go to a designated supervisor.
How we’d test it
A supervisor supplies eight routine questions with verified answers and two questions the manual cannot answer. Each routine answer must cite the correct passage. Both unsupported questions must route to human review.

Start with one approved source

What you provide
A manual your team has permission to use, its current revision, the equipment models it covers, routine questions with checked answers, and a document owner. Access to the source should match the user's existing permissions.
Updates and limits
The scope identifies how revisions are approved and older material is retired. The first version focuses on low-risk information lookup. Repair instructions, safety decisions, conflicting sources, and unsupported questions go to a qualified person.
What this page demonstrates
A prepared example with fictional equipment and a fictional source passage. It is not a live search engine and does not contain real equipment instructions. A customer build would need its own approved source set and evaluation.
